How Much Does a Home EV Charger Cost in the Philippines, Installed?

A breakdown of home EV charger and installation costs in the Philippines — equipment price ranges, what installation covers, monthly charging cost estimates, and the questions to ask before you sign a quote.

Budget roughly ₱40,000–₱85,000 for a basic 7 kW home EV charger with installation in the Philippines, or ₱65,000–₱105,000 for a smart charger with installation.

Those are reference ranges from published supplier pricing, not a quote for your home — the final number depends on the equipment you choose, how far the charger sits from your electrical panel, and whether your panel needs an upgrade. Start with what your car already came with, then get a site visit before you commit to a number.

Rule of thumb: a total price is really five line items — equipment, installation labor and materials, extra cabling, any panel upgrade, and site-specific extras. Ask your supplier to quote each one separately, not as one bundled figure.

What's the price difference between a basic and a smart charger?

"Smart" chargers add app control, scheduled charging, and energy monitoring on top of the same basic job of delivering power to your car. Here's how the equipment-only and equipment-plus-installation ranges compare, based on current supplier pricing:

OEM wall-mounted chargers from EV brands are also sold as standalone equipment, priced separately from installation — check whether your vehicle already came bundled with one before buying a third-party unit.

Should you buy a 7kW, 11kW, or 22kW charger?

Buying a higher-powered charger doesn't make your car charge faster than its own onboard charger allows. Check what your EV can actually accept on AC power first, then check what your home's electrical supply can deliver — both have to line up.

Those charge times are a simple "energy added ÷ power" calculation — they don't account for charging losses, thermal throttling, or power derating, so real-world charging usually takes longer. Most Philippine homes run single-phase supply, which is why 7 kW is the common default; your installer will confirm what your panel can support.

If your EV's onboard charger tops out at 7 kW, a 22 kW charger won't charge it any faster. The car — not the charger — sets the ceiling.

How much will home charging add to your electric bill?

Use this formula as a starting point:

Monthly charging cost = monthly distance driven × energy use per km ÷ charging efficiency × electricity rate

For example, at 1,000 km driven per month, 15 kWh/100km energy use, and 90% charging efficiency, you'd draw about 166.7 kWh from the grid. Here's how that plays out at different rates:

This is a sensitivity estimate, not a Meralco rate quote — swap in your own bill's rate and your vehicle's actual consumption for a real number, and remember that shifting to a new usage tier or a different rate schedule after installing a charger can also move your total bill. When comparing against public charging, factor in parking, service fees, and overstay charges too — not just the per-kWh price.

From quote to installation: 6 steps

1. Confirm your vehicle's specs

Share the model, year, trim, connector type, and AC charging limit — and check whether a charger already came bundled with the car.

2. Confirm your parking spot and permissions

In a condo or a rented space, clear the charger location, cable route, and who pays for the electricity with your admin or landlord first.

3. Book a site assessment

A qualified electrician checks your supply type, panel capacity, grounding, and the real cable distance from the panel to your parking spot.

4. Get an itemized quote

The quote should name the equipment model, installation scope, any extra cabling or upgrades, testing, and warranty terms — each as its own line.

5. Handle any utility paperwork

Some installations may need coordination with your electric utility or local permits depending on your setup — confirm with your installer whether that applies to you rather than assuming either way.

6. Test before you rely on it

Have the installer run a full test charge and protection check, and hand over the settings, test records, and after-sales contact before you sign off.
